Probably the most widely used development tool. Visual Studio allows programmers to create native Win32/Win64 programs as well as web applications and cloud services. To use Microsoft Visual Studio more effectively and complete daily tasks faster, Daniel Meixner, developer evangelist at Microsoft Germany, has put together 50 great Visual Studio tips and tricks in an e-book. Here you will find 3 tips that I personally find very helpful, explained by Daniel Meixner:
1. Split window
Who doesn't know the situation: you want to edit a code snippet in Visual Studio, but at the same time you actually want to focus on another area of the same file. Maybe because you want to read some member names from there, because you have to edit in both places to keep the code executable, or because guatemala telephone numbers you just want to get inspired by the code you've already written. The problem is: with large files, sometimes you can't see everything you want to see on the screen - you need to keep scrolling up and down, which is very annoying. Solution: split window. 13 Using a small, not-so-hidden icon, it is possible to display the same file twice in one window - at the top and at the bottom. The following screenshot shows where the icon is located:
2. Copy and paste the blank line
Visual Studio has had a form of copy and paste available to advanced users for some time. Copy and paste are typically used with Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V. Maybe you're familiar with the problem of accidentally copying rows that have nothing in them. Then you'll have an empty line in your clipboard - great! At the same time, you may have used Ctrl+X to cut an important piece of code beforehand. This of course is doubly annoying if you then solve the problem with an empty line of code. But don't worry, there is a way around this situation: you can convince Visual Studio to stop copying empty lines of code. I think most people will stick with this setup once they choose. Where do you set this? Well, the easiest way is to enter "Copy" (Ctrl+Q) in the Quick Launch line.
The first click will take you directly to the settings menu, where the corresponding page is already open. Here you can uncheck "Apply cut or copy commands to empty lines when no selection is made". This will prevent accidental copying of empty lines. Important: This only works if you don't actually select anything. If you select multiple empty lines, they will still be copied to the clipboard. Instead, this behavior means of course that you can now sometimes use Ctrl+C, Ctrl+V without anything happening - and then the "old" value remains in the clipboard. Generally this shouldn't be a problem.
